This spectacular region stretches from Double Island Point in the north down to Bribie Island. Much of the area is still natural bushland. The natural beaches of the Sunshine Coast provide varying levels of surf and often host surf lifesaving championships. The unusual Glasshouse Mountains are popular with bushwalkers and rock-climbers.

A cool elevated hinterland inland from the coast is home to the very popular destinations of Montville and Maleny with their crafts and markets.

Day trips by motor coach from Brisbane and the other major Sunshine Coast centres are a popular way to visit these towns and the surrounding countryside.
